Set along the water on Elbow Cay in the Bahamas, Firefly Sunset Resort‘s outdoor dining terrace is the kind of space guests don’t want to leave. Turquoise water on the horizon, a steady breeze off the Atlantic, and the unhurried pace that defines island life – the setting does most of the work. The furniture just needs to be worthy of it.
Firefly has built its reputation on relaxed sophistication: a private island retreat where every detail is considered and nothing feels accidental. Their outdoor dining experience sits at the center of that identity – guests linger over meals, evenings stretch long past sunset, and the terrace becomes the social heart of the resort. For a space carrying that much weight, the furniture telling a different story was no longer acceptable.

The challenge with resort dining furniture isn’t just durability – it’s finding pieces that perform in a harsh environment without looking like they were engineered for one. Firefly’s terrace dock demanded furniture that felt refined at dinner and could handle the conditions by morning.
The answer was a custom fabricated dining set built on powder-coated metal frames, matched in color to integrate cleanly with the resort’s existing palette. Powder coating was the deliberate choice here – in a salt air environment with no easy access to replacement stock, a finish that resists corrosion and holds color under prolonged UV exposure isn’t a premium upgrade, it’s the baseline requirement.
The complete package was designed as a system rather than a selection — proportions, finish, and materiality working together rather than simply coordinating.
